Aquarium Heaters?

If you have a heater can you just plug it in and put it in your fish(fish tank heater)and it’ll warm the tank?

Yes. But check the package and choose a heater that is designed for the size tank you have, and leave the heater unplugged but fully submerged for 1 hour prior to turning it on, or else it could break or short circuit from the temperature change. Also, put a thermometer on your aquarium and make sure to keep it between 72-82 degrees F. Most heaters are adjustable.

  4. Yes. You need to let it sit in the water for about 30 minutes first. Then adjust it. Some you can dial in a temperature. Others you just have warmer or cooler. Those I turn up until they do on. Then I wait a few hours to see where the temperature goes. Then I adjust it. It make take 2-3 adjustments to get exactly where you want to be. Just make them small adjustments.

  7. Place the heater completely submerged in the tank unplugged, wait an hour then plugg it in. Most heaters are pre-set at 72 degrees. Also buy a thermometer, and wait 24-48 hours for the tank to fully heat up before making a temperature adjustment. The best placement of the heater is near where the water circulates.
