Do I really need lights for my aquarium?
I have a 20 gallon tank with a 1 inch flowerhorn in it(i’ll move it to a bigger tank in a few month). I don’t even have plants in it(only artificial ones)
Do I need to put lights? I heard that lights encourages the fish to show off more color:is it true?
While not necessary, it really helps to illuminate a tank so you can witness things like their early morning feeding or just watching them at night just for the fun of it while relaxing.
Besides, the fish just seem to react differently when there is light, maybe they know they’re being watched.
you SHOULD GET LIGHTS IF YOU DON’T Have lights your fish will act Abnormally…. BEST BET IS YES GET SOME LIGHT…
And the colors do show off great..

Technically you dont. The fish can live fine by the normal room lights.
If you want to see your fish better you can put a simple lamp ( a desk lamp with an energy saver bulb) on top of a plain glass lid.
In a fish only tank, you dont need fancy lights.

Ambient light or room light will not be enough to show off your fish.
Some lights (purplish or reddish) cause the fish scale to appear more colorful than normal.
Do you need lights for an aquarium? In the long run, yes. It would show your fish better and when you practice the normal lighting routine for the specific fish, the fish will grow better.
Besides a dark tank looks sad.

It’s a case of yes and no really, if you want to grow live plants and be able to view your fish then using an artificial light would be beneficial. However many people don’t use lighting and rely off natural daylight, providing the tank isn’t exposed to direct sunlight. This seems to be very popular amongst breeders.
