PIRANHAS – CrocTalk Kelowna

First a confession, I have owned piranhas, big ones. I even suffered a bite that needed stitches and I was the only person treated for piranha bite at the Royal Columbian Hospital (1979). These beauties were at CrocTalk in Kelowna and Doug has also been bitten by a piranha.

    Very nice red bellies nice color to them your water is set just right. What temp and ph do you keep them at?

    I had 7 red belly …
    I had 7 red belly piranha in a 55 gal tank and they killed 3. So now i only have 4 piranhas in a 75 gallon tank.

    Really shy fish piranha are.

    Nice red’s! I own them myself and the only time mine ate one, was from it not being fed while a friend was sitting them for me.

    Atleast 2-3 days he didn’t feed them just a head & a part of the spine was left. Keep them full and you’ll have less aggression. I put my hands in my piranha tanks all the time & if i got bit, it’d be my own fault.

    Make sure they have eaten before cleaning your tank and keep an eye on them, because they dart real fast and you won’t even see it coming.
