    It also helps with oxygen, flow, fry,etc. Plastic or silk plants typically just don’t have the right color to match “natural” items in the tank and they also can be pretty expensive sometimes considering what they are worth. In the end it’s less trouble (except when using medications), more fun and the fish will enjoy it more with live plants.

    Live plants are better. Fake plants can suit needs too. But since they will grow algae on their surfaces anyway, and this will have to be cleaned, it’s easier with live plants. If algae grows on live plants and the fish don’t eat it then you can just throw it away. If the the plant grows too big then you can move some of it to other tanks or trade it in for cash.
