Saltwater Fish with Ich: Kordon Ich Attack for Saltwater Aquariums - Safe with Live Rock?
This is the description from Petco. "for use in all aquariums including reef and live rock, and ponds"
Is it really safe to put in my tank with live rocks and all? Please advise. Thanks!
Oh, it’s safe for live rock, and all other reef inhabitants, no doubt. What is dubious, however, is its efficacy. I am no fan of such herbal remedies, even from fine companies like Kordon, as they are highly variable, and better left in the alternative medicine section. What I would instead recommend is moving all fish over to a hospital tank, and treating them with a real medication, like copper sulfate, formalin, or quinine sulfate. Even if you choose to administer these treatments in the form of a bath (freshwater bath included), I’d suggest moving the fish to a separate tank, allowing the main tank to stay fishless– this allows the remaining parasites to starve, as they hatch out of their encysted life cycle stage.
EDIT: I was trying to avoid it, but of course, somebody had to bring up Kick Ich. This stuff is just as bad as–probably worse than–Ich Attack. Please see this answer of mine regarding Kick Ich: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AktZgNYjIZ2ADW.YM2rZiFzsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20080526124503AAkitVy

yes it is safe, but it wont work. the copper based ich meds work great but the reef safe once simply dont. you can move the fish from your display tank, but you will need to leave them out for at least 6 weeks for the ich to completely die off. i ended up losing my blue hippo tang. she brought the ich to my display tank before i started using a hospitable tank. I bought a UV sterilizer and it works great! the other fish in the tank had ich and it simply went away with no more loses! i leave it on all the time now and i have never had any other problems. it started working instantly. it costs more but it works, and works fast. you don’t want to stress the fish any more then they already are. also i added API stress coat+ to help build thick coats to keep the ich from attaching to the fish.

i just went through all this. avoid big stores like petco and try to find a professional at a Fish only local store
Yes it is perfectly safe and somewhat effective. I have used it personally. Kick Ich is a much better product though, you should try that if the Ich Attack doesn’t work for you. There’s a video diary on the forum below with a user using Kick Ich.
